therapy
Individual and family therapy services for children and teens who struggle with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, or behavioral issues.
AREAS OF SPECIALTY
-
While anxiety in small doses can be a good thing, significant anxiety issues can interfere with a child’s ability to take steps towards independence, try new things, and enjoy a fulfilling life. I utilize treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with Exposure and Response Prevention (CBT with ERP) to help kids and teens take gradual steps towards facing their fears in a supportive environment. I also use the principles of Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) to aid parents in empowering their youth to overcome their anxiety.
-
I work with families whose children struggle with challenging behaviors such as meltdowns, aggression, and defiance to identify the root of challenging behaviors and teach strategies designed to build healthy regulation skills.
-
Neurodivergent, highly sensitive, sensitive nervous system… whichever description you use, these are kids and teens who experience the world as confusing and overwhelming. As a result, they often struggle with symptoms like rigidity, sensory overload, and “big emotions”. I work with clients and their families to better understand themselves and their needs, and cocreate strategies to promote self-advocacy, executive functioning, and healthy regulation skills.
Treatment modalities
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so I integrate various modalities into my work to ensure affirming and effective treatment for children and families.
Some of the treatments I utilize include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for children and parents alike to tap into their values and use mindfulness to surf through difficult emotions in the service of one’s goals
Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) to equip parents with tools to support their children in coping with their anxiety and taking steps toward independence
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (Child-Directed Interaction with Emotion Coaching) to promote secure attachment and provide children with agency and connection through therapeutic one-on-one time with parents
Attachment-Based Family Therapy to help teens with depressive and suicidal ideation
Collaborative problem-solving to identify your child’s lagging skills and work together on solutions for recurrent challenges
